Last month, Marvel Comics announced it would be offering over 700 free #1 issues digitally through ComiXology as part of an SXSW promotion…
The ComiXology servers crashed under the weight as thousands attempted to take advantage. ComiXology CEO and Co-Founder David Steinberger responded quickly via the ComiXology blog, stating, “We don’t like letting you down. Our teams are working around the clock to resolve these issues so that you can have the experience you’ve come to expect.” It appears those issues have been resolved as ComiXology announced today the promotion’s relaunch, this time with a more strategic management system.
By clicking on this link, you can register to redeem your digital comics in turn. This will allow demand to be met without the kind of system issues that prevented fulfillment of the offer during the first go round.
It’s a great promotion, and with Marvel ‘s Phase Two about to begin with the release of Iron Man 3 in just under a month, it’s a great time to pick up a free issue… or 700.
